mentoring

As a first-generation scholar from a historically low-income background, I believe that mentorship is critical to recruiting and supporting women and scholars of color in academia.

mentoring philosophy

I believe in clear communication with all students that I mentor and I try to model this through having an accessible and clear mentoring philosophy.

Mentoring framework

Building the research skills of students is an intentional endeavor. I use this rubric to both assess and track student development with research skills in all my mentoring.

I speak for [our team] by saying we wouldn’t have been able to make the poster without your zoom sessions and guidance. Your lessons on R-script and quantitive analysis made an unfamiliar concept a helpful tool.

Devon’s mentorship has been, in a word, phenomenal. She is extraordinarily passionate, caring, empathetic, driven, intelligent, and countless other words. From guiding me through professional existential dread, to helping me practice for interviews, to sending me unsolicited resources and encouragement, she has been instrumental in shaping me into the leader, and person that I am today.
